Dear Parents and Carers
Remembrance Day falls on 11 November each year. At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a one minute silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. Today the loss of Australian lives from all wars and conflicts is commemorated on Remembrance Day. Yesterday we celebrated this with a prayer service in our individual classrooms. I had the opportunity to visit each classroom with our school wreath to show the students how people in the community remember and acknowledge this special day in our history.

2022 Classes - Parent Input
Thank you to the families that completed the parent input into classes Google Form. We value the information you have shared with us to assist when forming groups. Teachers will be working on this over the coming weeks.
Hampers
This year the major act of service that our students and families make to our Parish Christmas Hamper Appeal has needed to adapt again due to COVID-19 restrictions. The way in which we are able to support this is similar to 2020. We will assemble identical, generic style specific food hampers. There will be only non-perishable food items and vouchers for fruit/vegetables and meat, no gifts this year.
We are going to have an out of uniform day on Thursday 18 November for the donations.
A note will be coming home today to outline what your child's nominated grocery item will be.
Parent Portal for School Reports.
Due to blended learning in Term 3, we are again offering a comment only report for all students in Semester Two. This will include comments on English, Mathematics and a General Comment which will also mention Religious Education. This format is very similar to the 2020 format used in Semester One. We sincerely thank the parents who had provided feedback on the parent portal for reporting, we are always using your feedback to help inform our future processes. This semester all reports will be provided electronically unless otherwise requested. To access the report please see below.
The Parent Portal is a secure web based application which contains information about the school and your child, including student reports, NAPLAN results and class and teacher information.
An account needs to be created as a first step. For security reasons the username for this account must be your email address recorded at the school. Please be aware our system sometimes has issues with both hotmail or outlook email accounts. If you have any issues logging in, please contact the office during business hours. The process is as follows:
1. Log in to http://parent.lism.catholic.edu.au and create an account with your email address as the username. This link is also available on the home page of our School App - Parent Portal - Register.
2. An email will be sent to this address stating that a new account has been created and includes instructions to activate your account by following the embedded link.
3. If the email does not arrive check your spam folder.
4. You will be prompted to create a password and to confirm this password.
5. Select the blue log in button. Add the username and new password created in step 4
6. Click on the Schoolworx icon to enter the Schoolworx parent portal.
7. Select your child.
8. Log out when done.

PBS Focus
This week our focus is on following the 4R's. We should treat everyone as we would like to be treated. (Even when we have a different teacher and when things change). It could be that our teacher is away and we have another teacher for the day. Or it might be that our really good friend is away from school. We remember to be respectful and resilient to change.

Creative Arts News
What a busy week we have had again this week. Firstly, thanks to all of our St Agnes’ students for participating in our 'Day of the Living Arts Festival', and coming to visit our Art Gallery exhibition. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful group of creative and talented students. Our Gallery was set up in the Hall this week so that all grades could visit. We also took the opportunity to film this exhibition as part of our Creative Arts showcase movie which is currently in production.
Year 2
This week Year 2 have been exploring 2D shapes. We used the Tangrams on the OSMOs to develop the skills of flip, slide, and turn. On Wednesday, students had a lot of fun developing their concepts of symmetry by designing and making symmetry sculptures.

Swimming Carnival
We are still working on having our parents attend as spectators at our Swimming Carnival in Week 10. We are currently consulting closely with both the pool and The Catholic Schools Office and will be in a position to make an announcement very shortly. Fingers crossed! Notes for the Swimming Carnival will be going home next week.
Summer Sports Trials
The Hastings Zone Sports Coordinators are currently exploring options to hold trials for Touch Football this term. We are considering an out of school hours trial among other options. We will communicate this through the usual communication channels.
If children in Years 4 and 5 play competitive tennis or basketball and would like to try out for the Hastings Zone Summer Sports Team, they should make themselves known to Mr Brazel. There is a small chance that Diocesan trials for these sports only may go ahead this year in Lismore. There is a criteria that will need to be met to qualify for both sports, such as being a regular player in an official competition. The skill levels required to compete at dioscean level are quite high and we want to ensure that trialists are competent enough in their chosen sport.
As the year begins to come to an end, we will be having our House Leaders provide some reports on the sporting highlights of 2021 for future newsletter items. Watch this space!
