From the Leaders
Today we pause to give thanks for the fathers in our lives. For those who are biological fathers, adoptive fathers, uncles and mentors… Happy Father’s Day!
May God bless them all.
Creative Arts Spectacular
The Creative Arts Spectacular night, known as Aggies in Wonderland, was a vibrant showcase of student talent across dance, drama, music and visual and media arts. The students captivated the audience with their unique adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, seamlessly blending dance and music into the scenes. Special thanks go to Mrs Post and her enrichment students for their creative 'par-tea' teapots, inspired by words ending in 'ty'. The choir, under the direction of Mrs Stewart and Mrs Todd, added a musical layer to the evening, while Mrs Walker and Miss Boller crafted a script that allowed many students to participate, either as voice-over artists or costumed actors.
Dance scenes were choreographed by Mrs Todd, Mrs Stewart, Mrs Healey, Mrs Thurlow and Mrs McEntyre, and the Enrichment poetry group was prepared by Mrs Walker and Mrs McAnally. The Band and Guitar Groups, led by Amanda O’Brien and Benny Hardman, added to the musical richness of the night. A special thank you goes to Tim and Steph from Got Ya Back Productions for their invaluable guidance, assistance, and provision of equipment. Mrs Thurlow and the Shine group, along with Mrs Hugo and Mrs Crutcher's First Nations students were instrumental in delivering the Welcome and Welcome to Country.
Jackson Walsh from the Glasshouse worked closely with students on lighting, sound, and backstage operations, ensuring the production ran smoothly. Ryan Hazell from Rollin Production Services was also instrumental in his audio, lighting and stage support. Gratitude is extended to Panthers Club for hosting the event, accommodating a sold-out audience of over 550 attendees, to La Vive Classique for some of the costumes, and to JB Surf Videos for filming the event. Riley Bate and family kindly lent sets and props, enhancing the visual appeal of the production. Thank you to our Parent Forum for assisting us in securing Panthers as part of a community grant.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the Creative Arts Spectacular committee—Mrs Todd, Mrs Stewart, Mrs Healey, Mrs Thurlow, Mrs Gerathy, Mrs Krisitie Walker, Miss Boller, Mrs McEntyre, Mrs Mel Walker, Mrs McAnally and Mrs Post—for their months of dedication and preparation. Lastly, a huge thank you to the staff and students of St Agnes' Primary School for their time, effort, and enthusiasm, both on the night and in the lead-up to making this spectacular event a success.
Creative Arts Spectacular Rehersals
The children were all very excited to make their way to Panthers for the two days of rehearsals this week on Wednesday and Thursday. We were so impressed with the behaviour of all of the children involved and we had several adults make comments about the way they used their manners and followed all instructions. We have included a range of photos for you to see the fun that was had by all groups involved.
Spectacular Art Display
Acknowledging Father Figures
We were blessed with beautiful weather for our special breakfast this morning. We had over 750 people join us this morning - a very big increase on previous years. We purchased an additional 100 sausages on last year (Total 750) for this year and unfortunately we ran short right at the end of the morning. Our apologies to families that may have missed out. The hot chocolate that was available in the Canteen was also a big success.
Photos that I (Mrs Yarnold) took are captured below and we look forward to seeing the extra photos in the newsletter next week. Thank you to the many families that were able to stay for our special celebration in the hall. We hope you all have a lovely time celebrating as families together on Sunday.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped out in the canteen this morning.
Principal Conference
It was great to have the opportunity to gather together for the Diocese of Lismore Education Leaders Gathering in Coffs Harbour. We spent the last few days learning about and planning for new initiatives and sharing the work of Principal's with each other. This is a wonderful time for networking and collegiality with Principal's of all 45 schools gathering together with system staff.
School Is Closed
A reminder that the school will be closed on Monday 2 September as we are having our Staff Spirituality Day. There will be no childminding available as all staff are off site.
Year 2 Liturgy
Year 2 families are invited to attend Liturgy at Christ the King Chapel on Thursday 5 September at 10:15am.
Canteen Orders - We hit a record
A massive thank you to all of the helpers that supported our Canteen today. We had a record number of orders - 204! We are always so grateful for the people that offer assistance to the Canteen. Without their support, we would not be able to support our families in this way.
Raffle tickets for the Nintendo Switch, Port Macquarie Monopoly game and the Mickey Mouse jigsaw puzzle are available for 50 cents each outside of the front office at Lunch One each day. All proceeds will be donated to Sr Marjorie’s Soup Kitchen at ‘Our Place.’
Breaking Point with Dr Justin Coulson
The Council of Catholic School Parents is hosting a FREE parenting webinar with parenting speaker and author, Justin Coulson. This webinar will unpack:

- The tools you need to reverse this trend for your children.
- Realistic approaches for managing screen time in a way that protects your child's wellbeing.
- Creating margin in your home and family life to protect and promote mental wellness.
Sports News
NSW Touch Football Gala Day
Next Thursday is the NSW Touch Football Gala Day at Tuffins Lane. Registration has now closed on Compass, and teams are being finalised for the 200 students attending. The event is a non-competitive day of touch football focused on inclusion. Many of the students will be playing touch football for the first time, and they'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced players and high school referees. We encourage families to join us at Tuffins Lane to support our players.
While a canteen will be available for students to purchase food and drinks, we recommend that they bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. Hats are mandatory for all students, and we suggest bringing a cap or visor-style hat that can be worn on the field. We ask that all participating students arrive at school by 8:15am, as we plan to depart at 8:30am.
Year 6 Hasting Zone Gala Day
Each year, all Year 6 students from the Hasting Zone attend a soccer and netball gala day at Laurieton. The event serves as a mixer for Year 6 students and is a chance to meet students from other schools who may be attending the same high school in 2025. The Paul Wilson Cup (Soccer) and the Lismore Diocese Netball Challenge are part of the day, with the winning schools progressing to the Diocesan finals in Grafton on Wednesday 25 September.
A notice for the gala day will be sent out to Year 6 students via Compass next week. Travel to the venue is by bus, and a canteen will be available during the day. We hope our Year 6 students enjoy a great day of sport with their peers and wish the competitive netball and soccer teams all the best.
NSW Netball Gala Day
Thursday 11 September, is the NSW Netball Gala Day for Years 3 and 4. We recently received an update from Netball NSW confirming that the event will only feature non-competitive leagues. Over the past four weeks, students had the opportunity to register, and all who signed up will attend the gala day. This event offers experienced netball players a chance to showcase their skills while also allowing others to enjoy the fun of playing netball. Five teams from Year 4 and three from Year 3 will participate in the carnival.
Each student has been assigned to a team on the PlayHQ website. Parents should have received a notification via Compass, which includes a link to register their child for the selected team. Please follow the registration instructions on the PlayHQ website. If you need any assistance, please contact Renee Shaw in the office.
Students should wear their regular school uniform and sports shoes on the day. They should also bring a hat, sunscreen, and water bottles. While there will be a canteen available, we recommend packing a healthy lunch.
Parents and families are welcome to attend and support the children on the day. If anyone is available to assist with umpiring some games please email Drew Wilson at andrew.wilson@lism.catholic.edu.au
We ask that all participating students arrive at school by 8:15am, as we plan to depart at 8:30am.
Jagga Smith NSW PSSA Championships
Jagga Smith has been playing at the NSW PSSA Soccer Championships all this week. Over the four day carnival, Jagga has represented the Polding team, playing against the best up-and-coming players from Catholic and non-Catholic teams from NSW. We will catch up with Jagga next week and find out more about her experience. Well Done Jagga and congratulations.

Sora supports various learning needs with customisable features and helps students stay engaged with their reading. You can help your child get started by downloading the Sora app on their device or visiting the Sora website. Simply log in with your child’s school credentials, and they’ll be able to explore and borrow books right away. If you need any assistance, please feel free to reach out to the school library for support.
Positive Behaviour Support
This week we continue with our focus on being respectful in our relationships at school. The purpose of this lesson is to follow up on what we learnt in the Bullying No Way Week of Action and how we can continue to prevent Bullying. We have an important role to play each day in helping our friends feel accepted, respected and a sense of belonging.
